First day of school note card / gifts for teacher / teacher gift / first day of school gift via @clarkscondensed

We are in the throes of back to school season, and I feel both relieved and disorganized!

I can’t tell if I am coming or going most days, but I know that routine will settle in soon.

Each year when we shop for all of the back to school supplies, I purchase enough extras to last us through the school year and to donate to the kids’ classrooms.

And, while I could totally send the extra supplies in a Target bag, I like to put everything together in a nice reusable basket.

I even add a few special teachers only treats to the baskets. Then, I add a sweet first day of school note card on each one.

Typically, I fill reusable baskets with extra notebooks, paper, pens, markers, glue, and other classroom supplies. But, I also add a few bottles of soda, some candies and snacks, and even lotions and hand sanitizers. Each basket costs less than $10, but is always a welcome gift on the first day of school!.

Over the last few years, as my kids have gotten older, their classroom supply lists have gotten a lot smaller. Some years their supplies have even been taken care of by their schools. But, we still give presents to each of their teachers to start the school year! Fresh flowers have been my go to teacher gift idea when I don’t send in supplies on the first day of school.

Fresh Flowers

Flowers are great for support staff too. Our school’s support staff is truly the glue that holds our schools together, and I would feel terrible if I didn’t send in a little something for them on the first day of school too. To save money, some years I have clipped flowers from our own garden and placed them in canning jar vases.

No matter what you give your kids’ teachers, it will surely be appreciated.

You could say my blogging journey is a little bit Erin Brockovich, a whole lot creative mom.

Life took a crazy turn with the birth of my third child, who had so many health issues we weren’t sure if he’d live. Eventually he and his younger brother were both diagnosed with an auto-immune disorder that mimics disease found in Asian children exposed to Agent Orange. We believe ground water tainted by a chemical testing facility near our home is likely to blame.

I wasn’t about to let health challenges get in the way of CELEBRATING life with my children and started planning fairly elaborate, themed events in the security of my home. Today I am an established party blogger looking to partner with brands on budget-friendly, DIY home celebrations.

Jessica’s work has been featured on such notable party blogs and magazines such as Catch My Party, Hostess With The Mostess, Bird’s Party Magazine, Amy Atlas, lilsugar, and Spaceships and Laserbeams.

How sweet! If I was a teacher I’d love to get flowers on the first day of school! Or a fun gift basket 🙂
