Thanksgiving is just around the corner, which means it’s time to start thinking about what you’re going to wear. This year, why not get everyone in on the fun and dress alike? Here are some ideas for matching Thanksgiving outfits for the whole family. So get ready to take your Thanksgiving fashion game up a notch this year!

Matching Thanksgiving Outfits for the Whole Family

It’s officially fall! And you know what that means – the holiday season is right around the corner and it’s time to start thinking about Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Time seems to fly faster every year! As I’ve been browsing Pinterest, I have come across some super fun matching family holiday outfits that would be perfect for Thanksgiving dinner.

Matching with the family is a personal preference. Some people love it, some people hate it, and some people have a love-hate relationship with it. No matter where you stand on the matter, you have to admit it can be pretty cute – and how often do you get to match with your entire family? Thanksgiving is the perfect time to get those matching outfits on. Wear them to Thanksgiving dinner, snap some pictures, and create wonderful memories with your family!

It’s extra fun if you can get the extended family on board too, but that might prove to be a little difficult – especially if you’re purchasing the matching outfits rather than making them. However, it is doable! Here are a few ideas for matching Thanksgiving outfits the entire family can wear and enjoy.

Custom Shirts

Okay – if you know me, you know I’m all about custom shirts because they’re so much fun to make! I love to use my Cricut to make all of my custom shirts, and I use my EasyPress to transfer the designs onto the shirts. The best part about this is you can make custom clothes in all different sizes – from itty bitty newborn onesies to XXL t-shirts, everyone can be included in the matching fun!

Cricut Design Space has hundreds of designs, fonts, and ideas to choose from. There’s almost an overwhelming amount, so you’ll want to plan on taking some time to browse through it all. There are so many fun ideas to choose from so you’re sure to find the perfect design for your family Thanksgiving shirt. You could even include an inside joke or two! Your family will be a hit on Thanksgiving day.

Matching Sweatsuits

Thanksgiving is all about the food, so naturally, you’ll want to wear something comfortable for that post-Thanksgiving Dinner nap. Lots of families will do matching Christmas pajamas, so why not do matching Thanksgiving sweat suits? You can get matching sets from Target, Walmart, Amazon, or my personal favorite, Nike.

There are tons of options to choose from! And if you would rather coordinate than match, you can each get a different color. These simple Thanksgiving outfit ideas with stretchy material will keep you comfy all day long. Matching two-piece sets are the way to go! Never underestimate the power of a stretchy waistband.

Coordinating Costumes

Dressing up doesn’t have to be reserved for Halloween or another special occasion! You can get into the Thanksgiving spirit this year by dressing up like the pilgrims. Take it all the way back to 1621 and wear the traditional outfits they wore back then! This is a fun way to honor your ancestors and learn a little bit about the history of Thanksgiving. If you’re feeling extra festive, you can have the kids dress up as little turkeys!

Ugly Sweaters

The ugly sweater trend typically comes out around Christmastime, but you can definitely start early and do ugly Thanksgiving sweaters! You can usually find them cheap on Amazon, but why not get creative and make them?

All you’ll need is a basic, inexpensive solid-colored sweater (think brown, orange, or yellow), a few craft supplies (glitter, pipe cleaners, tinsel, feathers, twinkle lights – use your creativity here), and some hot glue.

You can typically find all the supplies you need at your local craft store or even Dollar Tree. Once you have everything ready, sit down with your family and start designing your sweaters! It’ll be a fun activity to do together and you’re sure to have a good laugh on Turkey Day. If you’re not into the ugly sweater thing, a simple sweater will be just fine for the dinner table. These are great for chilly November days!

You can even make an Ugly Sweater with your Cricut!

Family Photo Outfits

Thanksgiving is the perfect opportunity to get the entire family all dressed up!  You can find coordinating clothes for everyone at Target or Old Navy for great prices. I know this isn’t technically a “matching” outfit idea, but coordinating outfits always turn out adorable – especially in pictures. A quick family photo is easy to add into your Thanksgiving plans!

First, you’ll want to choose a color palette.

For example, since it is Thanksgiving, you could do brown, mustard yellow, burnt orange, and cream.

Dad could wear jeans and a brown sweater, mom could wear jeans and a cute button-up flannel or long coat, and the kids could wear cute fall dresses, sweaters, t-shirts with joggers – the options are endless.

As long as you coordinate colors and have a variety of textures and patterns, your family is sure to look amazing!

Family outfits are fun to put together when you can choose from fall fashion options and incorporate endless layering. If you have a new baby and this is their first Thanksgiving, you’ll definitely want to find the perfect outfit for a photo.

Vacation Shirts

If your family likes to vacation during Thanksgiving, get some fun matching shirts to wear on one of the days! Think family reunion shirts but for your vacation. You could do a Disney theme if you’re going to Disneyland or Disney World, you could do a cruise theme for a cruise, or a beach theme if you’re going somewhere like Hawaii or the Virgin Islands.

Again, there are plenty of options to choose from whether you decide to make or buy the shirts. Your Cricut can create darling designs that will be custom for your family, but if you’re short on time and want to purchase something instead, that works too!

There are so many fun and creative ideas for matching Thanksgiving outfits! It’s a great way to get the whole family involved in the holiday fun. No matter what you choose, you’re sure to make some great memories – and maybe even start a new tradition.

So why not break out of the mold this year and try something new? Get inspired by these Thanksgiving outfits for the whole family, and have a little fun with your fashion. Who knows, maybe you’ll start a new trend! What do you think – will you be trying any of these looks for Thanksgiving?
