Hello! It’s Kathleen from Fearlessly Creative Mammas to bring you another fun and hopefully useful project. This month I am sharing a Mirrored Pen Holder with you. To be sure, you can keep other things like scissors, pencils, markers, rubber bands or chopsticks in it too. I made this one as part of a high school graduation gift, but you can make it for yourself if you need something to keep your organized.

In 2014 I went to SNAP conference and Rust-Oleum gave me this can of Mirror Effect spray paint to use in a craft. I forgot I had it because when we were living in our small apartment, everything was crammed together. This year at SNAP, Rust-Oleum had these flower vases on our tables and said we could take them home. Since I was driving, I got the one our table. Everyone else was flying. When I got home and unpacked my boxes from our very recent move, I found the Mirror Effect paint and when I needed a gift, an idea was born!

For this project you will need a can of Rust-Oleum Mirror Effect Paint, a glass vase in your favorite shape, painter’s tape and decorative washi tape.

First, wash your vase and make sure it is 100% dry. It’s best to allow it to drive overnight, just to be sure.

Next, cover the outside with painter’s tape. Since I was waiting my whole entire house at the time, I had plenty sitting around. I also covered the top edge of the vase because I didn’t want the paint there.

Now, I took my vase outside so I wouldn’t have paint fumes in the house. I would suggest that, but it’s up to you. Spray the inside of the vase with a light covering of paint. Allow it to dry and then repeat at least two times, making sure you are covering the whole inside of the vase. Allow the paint to dry completely.

The final step is to decide where you want your washi tape and run it around the outside of the vase. I picked green because that is the favorite color of the young lady I gave this to. Now it can grace her desk when she is away at college. We will miss her for sure.

What ideas do you have for Mirror Effect paint? I still have half of a can to use. Hit me up with your ideas and be sure to stop over at Fearlessly Creative Mammas for a visit.
