Fun Party Games for Kids: Keep the Giggles Going All Party Long

Throwing a birthday bash, family get-together, or neighborhood gathering? One of the best ways to keep kids entertained (and burn off some of that sugar-fueled energy) is with simple, high-energy games that make everyone laugh.

Whether you’re indoors, outdoors, or somewhere in between, having a few tried-and-true kids’ party games in your back pocket is a must. These ten fun party games are easy to set up, require minimal supplies, and are great for a range of ages and group sizes.

1. Freeze Dance
Play music and let kids dance freely—when the music stops, everyone has to freeze. Anyone caught moving is out (or just for fun, no one is out).

2. Balloon Pop Relay
Divide kids into two teams. Each child runs to a chair, sits on a balloon to pop it, then runs back and tags the next player. First team to finish wins.

3. Pin the Tail on the Donkey
A classic for a reason. Blindfold kids and have them try to pin (or tape) a tail onto a donkey picture. Closest one wins.

4. Duck Duck Splash
Like Duck Duck Goose, but the “goose” gets a small cup of water poured on their head instead of being tagged. Great for warm-weather parties.

5. Cup Stack Challenge
Give each child a stack of plastic cups and see who can build the tallest tower before it collapses. Add a timer for more excitement.

6. Musical Chairs
Set up one less chair than the number of players and play music. When the music stops, kids scramble for a seat. Remove a chair each round until one winner remains.

7. Candy Guessing Game
Fill a jar with candy and let kids guess how many pieces are inside. The closest guess wins the candy or a prize.

8. Limbo
Use a broomstick or pool noodle and play music while kids go under the bar. Lower it each round to increase the challenge.

9. Pass the Parcel
Wrap a small prize in multiple layers. Kids sit in a circle and pass the parcel as music plays. When the music stops, the child holding the parcel unwraps one layer. Continue until the prize is revealed.

10. Scavenger Hunt
Create a simple list of items for kids to find around the house or yard. You can theme it to the party (pirate, princess, nature, etc.) for even more fun.

These party games are a great way to keep things moving and help kids bond through laughter and teamwork. Many of them require little prep and no special supplies, which makes them ideal for last-minute party planning too.

Party games are a simple but powerful way to create lasting memories and laughter-filled moments for your child and their friends. No matter your space, budget, or theme, these game ideas can bring joy to any celebration.
