Microwave Vegetable Bag

Christmas is coming, whether we’re ready or not. Long ago I used to have all of my shopping and making of things done by Thanksgiving. Then I only had cookies, pies and candy to make in the month of December.  I miss that girl. I don’t know how I did it. I had three young kids at home and I worked for my husband part time. I have to find her again. Next year though, because I won’t make it for this year and still be able to sleep. No need to kill myself. I really love making homemade gifts and I’ve got a list going on right now of things to get done. First on my list is this Microwave Vegetable Bag. These are great because they are customizable to the tastes of your receiver. They are a great gift for someone who is single, an empty nester couple and also college students. PS It’s Kathleen from Fearlessly Creative Mammas sharing a homemade gift idea with you.

For the Microwave Vegetable bag, you need Wrap-N-Zap 100% Natural Cotton Batting. There are instructions on the back of the bag on how to make a version of microwave bags, but mine are different. you can find this by the batting in your craft store.

You also need two pieces of 100% cotton fabric and 100% cotton thread. Please be sure to get 100% cotton. Most threads have polyester in them and that will melt. If you get two fat quarters, you will have leftover fabric. You can also just use some scraps, which I did for this particular bag.

Step 1: Cut both fabrics and batting to 11×21.

Step 2: Stack them with the fabric right sides together and the batting on the wrong side of one piece of the fabric, as shown below.

Step 9: Fold the top of the bag, which is the back side, to the end goes over the top of the bag about an inch.

Step 10: Sew up both sides of the bag, being sure the part that is folded over is caught, like shown below.

Step 11: Print out instructions to use the bag and attach it to the bag. You can use cardstock or business card blanks. You can print the instructions out at this Google Drive link  if you can’t get them above. If you have trouble, let me know and I can send it to you.

You can package this up with some seasonings and cute kitchen spoons and have a great gift for someone who loves to cook or eat.
