Wish you had an Air Fryer but don’t want another appliance? The Mealthy CrispLid can turn your Instant Pot into one. Here are our initial thoughts and how you can get one!
I’ll be the first to admit that when I see a new appliance or kitchen gadget come on the market, I just want to get it!
I’ve gotten better over the years about determining whether or not I will actually use it – and with our recent move, I’ve really wanted to par down on what we have in our kitchen.
One item I have really loved the idea of but hate getting out is my Air Fryer.
Every time we’ve used it, it’s been great…but then it’s always a big pain to clean, it’s huge, and I just don’t like going in and out of the garage to get it.
So it just hasn’t been used…despite seeing so many yummy recipes.
On the other hand, my most used appliance is my Instant Pot.
Ever since I got one a few years ago, it has become my favorite, and I use it all the time.
It even holds a coveted spot in my inside pantry closet.
That really means something 😉
But the one thing I never loved was that I couldn’t crisp things up.
Cheesy dishes (like my Instant Pot Spinach Artichoke Dip).
Casseroles (like my Instant Pot Lasagna).
And meats that need a little extra browning at the end (like my Instant Pot Turkey Breast).
I would usually throw them in the oven, which isn’t a HUGE deal, but still – the beauty of the Instant Pot is one pot meals!
So when I heard whisperings about a new accessory that was coming to the market that would turn my Instant Pot into an Air Fryer…making it possible to not only make all those Air Fryer recipes I’d been wanting to make, but make some of my favorite Instant Pot recipes even easier?
You better believe I started researching it.
I soon discovered that it wasn’t just a rumor and that the Mealthy CrispLid was what I had been dreaming of.
So, as I often do, I reached out to the company and let them know I wanted to try out, and they were nice enough to send me one before the release date.
You all – I was a little skeptical that it would actually work, but I’m here to tell you it does!
It’s being released in just a few weeks (it’s available for pre-sale now), and I wanted to be one of the first to tell you all about this!
I have only used it a few times (like for these amazing English Muffin Pizzas), but I know this will make our beloved Instant Pot hold an even more permanent place in our home.
Instant Pot Air Fryer
Here is my video review for those who are more visual:
The Mealthy CrispLid is a device that you put on top of your Instant Pot.
You plug it into the wall, and it makes it so you can easily make Air Fryer foods by using your Instant Pot.
You can use it along with your favorite Instant Pot recipes, or you can use recipes that are just made for Air Fryers. It just makes it so you can have two appliances in one.
Currently, the Mealthy CrispLid is $49. I’m not 100% sure if this price will go up when it’s officially released.
An Air Fryer will run you anywhere from about 60 to over $100 (though I think you can get them on sale for less occasionally – not sure of the quality).
It absolutely does! Admittedly, I haven’t used it a TON yet – I went out of town right after I got it. However, for the things I have used it for, I’ve been very impressed with how fast it works and how crispy everything
I mean, I don’t think it cooks things better than an Air Fryer, but it definitely seems to work at the same level as my Air Fryer.
If you use your Air Fryer constantly, then you may be better off with a regular Air Fryer that just sits on your countertop.
However, if you are a big Instant Pot user like me who either currently uses an Air Fryer, wants an Air Fryer, or just wants to crisp up your Instant Pot meals, then I think it’s a very good choice and alternative to a traditional Air Fryer.
Your CrispLid package will come with the CrispLid, the fryer basket, a trivet, a silicone heat pad (make sure you put the CrispLid on this when it’s still hot and not on your pressure cooker), tongs, a user guide, and a cookbook!
The CrispLid is not just for Instant Pot brand pressure cookers!
It is compatible with any 6 or 8 quart electric pressure cooker. All you have to do is put it in and plug!
No, it was created by a company called Mealthy. They have their own pressure cooker as well.
I don’t know if using something like this will void your Instant Pot warranty, but if that’s important to you, definitely look into it before you use it.
The basket is a little bit small – I’m sure there are Air Fryers with a higher capacity.
The little basket held three English Muffin pizzas.
You can make pretty much any recipe made for the Air Fryer.
And it can definitely be used in conjunction with your favorite Instant Pot recipes – which is why I’m so excited about it. I can’t wait to make my favorite cheesy dips in the Instant Pot without having to broil them for a few minutes before serving.
You can get it through Mealthy.com NOW!
I was actually VERY impressed with the ease of use. I always feel a little intimidated when I get a new appliance – but it was very simple.
All you do is plug it in, set the temperature, and set the time, and it starts going. I love it!
I felt like it cooked things very quickly. I usually cook my English Muffin pizzas for 10-15 minutes in the oven, and the ones I made were done in just 4-5 minutes.
