Rosemary Pita Bread with Roasted Red Pepper Hummus

Ingredients

  • 3 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon yeast
  • 1 1/4 cup warm water
  • 2 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic
  • 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary chopped

Instructions

  • Pour water in bowl and sprinkle with yeast.
  • Let sit 5-10 minutes.
  • Stir in honey and oil.
  • Add flour and salt.
  • Mix with dough hook for 10 minutes on low, or mix dough together with a wooden spoon into a ball, and then knead for 10 minutes.
  • Form ball and place in a large, greased bowl.
  • Cover and let rise until doubled (about an hour)
  • Punch dough down and divide into 8 pieces.
  • Roll into balls, place on a clean surface, cover, and let rise for 20 minutes.
  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  • Roll out each ball to be about 1/4" thick. Place on a greased surface (or for best results, on a cooking stone.)
  • Brush with olive oil.
  • Bake for about 8 minutes each.
