Taste of Colorado and SmartStrand Silk Carpet

Even though I grew up in Colorado, I have only attended the Taste of Colorado once. And that was when I was super little and I don’t even remember it (just trusting my mom on that one.) I’ve always thought it would be fun to go, but the high prices always kept me away. Even though I love good food, if there’s not a good price on it, forget it!

This year was different. I was asked to attend the Taste of Colorado to check out the Mohawk “License to Spill” Tour, where there would be demos for Mohawk’s SmartStrand stain resistant carpet and Chuck Nice, HGTV star, would be helping out with. I also was given a little bit of money to try out some different foods at the Taste of Colorado…so of course I said yes!

We invited my brother and sister-in-law, and my sister-in-laws mom, to come with us. Even though it pretty much seemed like it was the hottest day of the year, it was a lot of fun! We entered lots of contests (which, of course, we didn’t win) and tried different kinds of food. We got a little lost finding the License to Spill bus, but we eventually did.

And we were welcome with some delicious green chili sauce breakfast burritos from Sam’s No. 3. And, best of all, they were completely free! That alone made the Mohawk stand the best place at the Taste of Colorado!

I’ll admit, I had no idea what Mohawk Flooring was, or why their SmartStrand carpet was so special. I mean, how exciting can carpet be? However, as soon as we got to the booth, I was welcomed by Heidi, one of Mohawk’s employees, who showed Forrest and I this awesome carpet.

So what’s so awesome about SmartStrand? Well, check out this series of pictures and see if you can guess:

While most carpets have stain and soil treatments that eventually wear off after typical use, SmartStrand has permanent stain and soil resistance. As in, it never wears off. It is built into the carpet itself, so the stain resistance will be as good as the day you installed for as long as you have it. As you can see in the pictures above, it is so easy to clean. All you need is some warm water and some dish soap. I mean, how many of us avoid regular carpet cleaning, because the expensive carpet cleaners?!  Mohawk Flooring is also a super reputable company, with excellent ratings, and is not only rated #1 in consumer satisfaction, but the world’s largest flooring manufacturer. If we owned our own house, I would most definitely be looking into this kind of carpet (I’m trying to convince my parents to get it for their house; with as many grandchildren as they have, they definitely need some stain resistant carpet.

For anyone that has kids or pets, this carpet can be a life saver. I’m sure we’ve all heard a carpet horror story. Forrest likes to talk about when he was younger, he tripped down the stairs while carrying a big bowl of tomato soup, which, of course, splattered everywhere. Not something any mom wants to come and find! But with SmartStrand carpet, it makes seeing a nice, white carpet splattered with juice (or tomato soup) less of a devastating site.

One of the highlights of the event, as I previously mentioned, was Chuck Nice from HGTV. He was hilarious and went around the Taste of Colorado, trying different foods and spilling them on the carpet. He was super nice, and even though we only interacted for a few minutes, I could tell he was a nice as his name indicates.

And, even if you can’t afford new carpet right now, you can enter to win a 6′ X 9′ SmartStrand Silk bound carpet rug here. I just entered, as I would love one of these rugs!
