Okay, I'll stop with the acronyms. If you've spent anytime in forums or comment threads on the Internet, you've likely run into all sorts of acronyms.

While there are probably thousands out there, since I spend most of my time in mom forums, I thought it was about time I put together a list of Internet Lingo for moms.

So if you are perusing through a message board and you are so confused….but feel a little sheepish asking what someone is saying (I've been there), here's your handy dandy list. FTM – First Time Mom

BM – Bowel Movement or Breast Milk

NBR – Not Baby Related

NBFR – Not Breastfeeding Related

ETA – Edited to Add or Estimated Time of Arrival

FF – Formula Fed

FIL – Father-in-law

MIL – Mother-in-law

HPT – Home Pregnancy Test

IC Β - Incompetent Cervix

SMH – Shaking my Head

IRL – In Real Life

IUI – Intrauterine Insemination

KWIM – Know What I Mean?

LO – Little One
L&D – Labor and Delivery

MC or M/C – Miscarriage

MS – Morning Sickness or Multiple Sclerosis

O – Ovulation

PG – Pregnant

POAS – Pee on a stick

PPD – Postpartum Depression

PPA – Postpartum Anxiety

SAHM – Stay at Home Mom

SAHD – Stay at Home Dad

SAHP – Stay at Home Parent

SO – Significant Other

TMI – Too Much Information

TTC – Trying to Conceive

WAHM – Work at Home Mom

MOTN – Middle of the Night

MO – Month Old (usually with a number in front of it)

IDK – I don't know

TBH – To Be Honest

NBD – No Big Deal

NTR -Not Twin Related

SLIP – Slip Independence Plan

OT – Off Topic

LC – Lactation Consultant
