This month’s LDS visiting teaching message discusses “those who stray”, and the importance of showing them love and kindness. You can download these free visiting teaching handouts featuring a quote from Sister Linda K. Burton to give to the sisters your teach.
For months, I have been wanting to create a monthly printable for the Relief Society Visiting Teaching Message.
I just love having quotes from the leaders of the church around my house, and I thought it would be fun to make one each month that features a quote from the VT message.
One thing that I thought you could do with these is give the sisters you teach a picture frame with the first quote in it and encourage them to put the new printable in it each month. I always see nice frames on sale at Hobby Lobby!

For October 2017, the message is “Enfolding with Love Those Who Stray.”
I think most of us have a loved one who has left the church or chosen a different path – even for just a time.
And while it can be the most heartbreaking thing to watch, it’s so important to love that person and show them kindness. I love how this month’s message emphasizes that God loves all his children, which is the quote I chose for this month’s printable:
“Heavenly Father loves all his children. . . . No matter where they are – on or off the path – He wants them back.” – Linda K. Burton

I also really loved these two quotes:
“However wayward [your children] might be, … when you speak or talk to them, do it not in anger, do it not harshly, in a condemning spirit. . . Speak to them kindly.” – President Joseph F. Smith
“Search until you find it. When the lost one is your son or your daughter, your brother or your sister, … after all we can do, we love that person with all of our hearts. …” Elder Brent H. Nielson of the Seventy
I do know that God loves His children and wants nothing more than to have all us all return to the fold. While this may not be a reality for all in this life, I know that by showing love and kindness to those who stray (even if they never come back), it will do more good than harm. Genuine support and love is essential. God works in mysterious ways – and as President Eyring said, “God has devised means to save each of His children.”
