Friday Favorites

As you may have noticed, these “Forrest Friday’s” haven’t exactly panned out quite yet. Since Forrest is kept quite busy with his internship, he doesn’t have a lot of extra time to devote to writing on the blog yet. So until further notice, I plan on doing this “Friday Favorite” posts, where I will post random “favorites” of mine. This week, I’ll be doing a bunch of random links from around the Internet. Next week, I’ll post about my favorite Etsy purchases.

My sister, Diana, posted this on Facebook and it made me laugh. So glad this has never happened to me, and I’m definitely not going to be purchasing that curling iron!

Being a Yes-Mom by How Does She…

I read this blog post a few weeks ago, and it really hit home. Although I’ll admit I say no to Baby J a lot throughout the day (mainly just in the heat of the moment, like when he’s about to pour all his water all over the ground, or pull something on top of himself), something I’d like to try is to try and avoid saying no unnecessarily  I don’t mean that I’ll be a pushover and say yes to everything all the time, but more try and explain things, rather than just reverting to no.

I really liked this post, because the mom took a day to just say yes to what her kids wanted to do, partly so she could enjoy being with them more and their childhood. Doing something like this seems like it could be a great way to reconnect with your kids, and see the world from their eyes for a bit.

Find Beauty in Your Post-Baby Body

My sister’s best friend wrote this article on KSL, and I loved it. I think it’s something all moms can probably relate to.

Favorite Tutorial:

Braided Scarf by Put Up Your Dukes

This is a super cute scarf tutorial that I made for two of my sisters-in-law for Christmas. I actually found two different tutorials for this scarf, but this one was, by far, the most simple to follow. It turned out really cute, and is really versatile. Here’s one of the ones I made…as modeled by my wonderful model, Snoopy.

Twice-Baked Sweet Potato Casserole with Bacon by Pillsbury
I made this dish for a family party a few months ago, and I plan to make it again this Saturday for a ward party. It was a huge hit, and is definitely different from a typical sweet potato casserole. It’s quite savory, and the bacon is an delicious finishing touch on it.

  • I didn't know that you were going to write this blog together. That's awesome. My husband doesn't really have any interest in blogging with me. But he is also busy with working and finishing his MBA.

    That video is pretty funny.
