Can you feel it? Spring is in the air, at least sometimes. It will be a little bit coming full time where I live, but some days I can feel it. Really. I’m really looking forward to the flowers, warm weather and quite frankly, fewer layers of clothing. I’ve been cooped up in my house for 2 1/2 weeks, recovering from surgery, so I haven’t been outside much. This being the case, I decided to bring a little of the Spring inside by making these Easy Spring Blocks. They really are easy, so don’t let them scare you off at all. Bring a little Spring into your house or office or classroom today.
Since I haven’t been out, I used things I had in the house, Spring paint colors, wooden blocks I bought from Pick Your Plum awhile back and vinyl for the letters. If you don’t want to use vinyl, you can use wooden letters or even paint the letters on the blocks. My blocks are about 2 inches square, but you can use any size blocks.
Paint each block a different color. Then, paint some decorations on the blocks. I did diagonal lines and dots. My lines aren’t perfect, but that’s okay. To make the dots, I used a stencil brush. Leave the side of the block that you are going to add the letter to blank. When you’re finished, spray the blocks with acrylic sealer so the paint doesn’t come off and allow it to dry completely.
After everything was dry, I made the vinyl ‘Spring’ letters. I used the ‘Copperplate Gothic’ print. Measure the blocks so you can make your letters the right size. If you’re using wooden letters, just paint them some color that will stand out against the paint.
And there you have it. Super easy ‘Spring’ blocks. I told you it wouldn’t be too hard. So tell me, what are you looking forward to with Spring? Let me know in the comments below.
