The Cricut Foil Transfer system is really neat – but it doesn’t work with every material! Here are the known compatible materials that you can bedazzle to your heart’s content!
After hearing about the release of Cricut’s Foil Transfer system, your mind is probably spinning with new ideas of what you can do with it!
I know that’s how I felt when I learned about it!
Before you let your imagination go too wild, I thought I would share the materials that Cricut has tried and tried again and have found work beautifully with their foil transfer tool.
These are the materials Cricut says works best with their foil transfer sheets. I would imagine this would be specifically for the Cricut brand of these materials. I have linked to the specific materials on the Cricut website in case you want to order right away.
You may be able to try other materials, but when you go into Design Space and pick your materials – if you have the foil linetype selected, it will only allow you to cut with certain materials.

A variety of cardstocks can be used with the foil. Because this tool doesn’t use heat, you don’t have to worry about it warping the final product!
- Adhesive Backed
I’ll be curious to see if/how it works on glitter cardstock.
Ooh…it would be so fun to make a leather clutch or earrings with some of the foil embellishments. Maybe even personalize these baby moccasins?!
So many fun options out there – this could be used for cards, decorations, and more. However, I would make sure to pick more of a plain print – I think if there’s already some fun design, it might make it hard for the foil to stand out (but I need to try and see!)
Not entirely sure what I would do with this…since it’s already foil embossed. But I’m sure there are some fun ideas out there.
I love watercolor anything – it’s one of my favorite trends. Add some foil? Can’t even imagine the possibilities.
I think you could make some absolutely BEAUTIFUL wedding announcements this way!
Ahh I love sticker paper, and I can only imagine all the fun things I can do with this!
I could see you make some classy invitations or decorations!
I don’t use a lot of printable vinyl, but this could really jazz up some projects! I already have lots of ideas in the works for this.
I was excited to see Kraftboard on here. It’s used for a lot of great 3D projects and fun designs. I can’t wait to see some of the embellishments people do with this.
