It will definitely work to determine where you are from – the number of people you would connect with might be less, but it should be able to determine where you are from 🙂

Hey Katie! I’m really interested to do the Ancestry ADN, Because I’m Colombian, But I do have also some Asian characteristic and I don’t really have secure information about my heritage, I got some information but its not really secure,It is what I have heard from my uncles, that my great-great-grandparents were from Vietnam due the war, they came to the capital. do you think that if I have no record here of my family, they all live in Colombia, could the test work? I only have one cousin here in New York from my mother side and that’s it.

I was told my great grandmother on mother’s side was either half or full native american but census claims she was white. Mother grew up in orphanage and did not know what tribe or where she was from. Which site would be better to use? Ancestry or 23and Me? Thanks for your help in this matter. Also both my daughters and I want to take the test.

Has anyone skipped the cost of discovering the health info of 23andMe, by ordering Ancenstry and uploading the raw data into any of the many health gene analyzing services?

You mentioned that Ancestry DNA uses an autosomal DNA test. Does 123 and me also use this? If not, what does 123 and Me use?
